Today we are excited to announce the launch of KawaDAO. While Kawakami has always embraced a community-run approach, KawaDAO will take us one step closer towards formalizing that practice. The launch of KawaDAO will entrust the community with making important decisions about the future of the Kawakami ecosysytem.
KawaDAO Platform
KawaDAO uses the Snapshot platform in combination with Gnosis Safe, allowing for gasless voting while maintaining the ability to execute on-chain transactions. The governance token of KawaDAO is $xKAWA. You can access KawaDAO at https://snapshot.org/#/kawadao.eth.
KawaDAO Membership
While anyone can join the KawaDAO snapshot, in order to be considered a DAO member, you need to hold at least 10,000 $xKAWA and either verify with the Collab.Land bot in the #join-kawadao Discord channel, if your 10,000 $xKAWA is unstaked,or message a Discord admin to manually verify. Kawakami Improvement Proposals (KIPs)
Initially only team members will have the ability to create proposals. This is to ensure that the transition to full DAO governance is done in a careful and orderly manner. If there are proposals that community members would like to see, then they should be raised in the #kawadao Discord channel.
Voting
One $xKAWA equals 1 vote. Both staked and unstaked $xKAWA will be counted, but not unharvested $xKAWA. Voting requires signing with your wallet but is gasless and free. After the creation of a proposal there will be a 5 day discussion period, follow by a 3 day voting period. In case the need for more urgent action arises, the discussion and voting period will be reduced to 1 day each.

New proposals and voting results will be automatically posted in the #kawadao Discord channel.
Whats Next?
While this is just the start for KawaDAO, we see it as a big step for the community. Over the course of 2022 KawaDAO will play an increasingly important role in bringing value to our investors, particularly with the coming launch of KawaSeed.
